[Opening Scene]
Mark: Hi, it's Mark from Lanoguard. Today, we're taking a closer look at this iconic driveway legend — a Volvo 245. I'll be chatting with the owner to learn more about its story, what's beneath the bonnet, and his personal connection to it. Let's take a walk around and find out more.

[Cut to Walkaround]
Mark: Thanks for bringing down this beautiful Volvo 245! Tell me a little bit about it — what made you choose this car?

Owner: Why would anyone own a Volvo? (laughs) Well, I like older cars, and this one serves a purpose. It’s perfect for school runs, hauling the dogs, and even tip runs. It's just a solid all-rounder.

Mark: Wow, you use it for tip runs? It really doesn’t look like it!

Owner: Yeah, it covers up well.

Mark: How old is it?

Owner: This one’s a ‘92, so it's about 33 years old now.

Mark: Still going strong! Does it have any sentimental connection for you — family ties or anything like that?

Owner: Not really, but I do remember my neighbours having one when I was a kid. Back then, it wasn’t exactly a ‘cool’ car — not poster-worthy — but something about its design, the switchgear, and that classic boxy look just appeals to me.

Mark: Yeah, the design is unmistakably of that era. Even the controls — like the fan knob — feel robust and built to last.

Owner: Absolutely. It's 33 years old and still feels solid. Even the vanity mirror in the glovebox feels better quality than most modern cars.

Mark: And I’ve heard the heater is seriously powerful...

Owner: Oh, it's like a thermonuclear reactor! Within two minutes, you’re turning it down and cracking the window. Definitely built for Nordic temperatures.

Mark: Does this one have the classic overdrive gear?

Owner: No, this has a fifth gear, but earlier models had that button-operated overdrive. The guy who owned it before me had it for 28 years, and he kept meticulous records — invoices, history, the lot.

Mark: That’s brilliant. Shall we take a look under the bonnet?

Owner: Sounds good.

[Cut to Engine Bay]
Mark: So, what are we looking at here?

Owner: This is the B200 engine — a 2.0L, four-cylinder. It’s more about torque than power, so you just let it chug along. Rarely need to push it past 3,500 RPM.

Mark: Looks really clean under here — especially for its age.

Owner: Yeah, it's been well-maintained. There's even a double fan belt setup — maybe for extra reliability.

Mark: I remember people using old pairs of tights as emergency fan belts back in the day!

Owner: (laughs) Yeah, maybe that’s why they gave it two — for backup!

Mark: It’s built like a tank. You could drive this thing through a battlefield!

Owner: Exactly. And despite 135,000 miles on the clock, there’s barely any rust.

Mark: Incredible. Even those classic Volvo headlight wipers are still intact — you don’t see those often!

Owner: Yeah, it’s funny watching them flick across the lights — always makes me smile.

Mark: Shall we get underneath and see how it’s holding up?

[Cut to Underbody Inspection]
Mark: Well, here we are underneath your Volvo 245. For a car this age, it's looking remarkably solid.

Owner: Yeah, it's had some work done — new bushes and bits — but overall, it's holding up well.

Mark: The rust seems minimal, apart from a few spots on the wishbones. But even those are solid metal — clearly built to last.

Owner: Definitely. Volvo seemed to prioritise longevity over cutting costs.

Mark: Brake pipes look good too — really well-preserved. Are you thinking of adding some rust protection?

Owner: Yeah, sounds like a good idea.

Mark: Great — let’s go for it. The key is to apply a fine mist, covering everything evenly. A little goes a long way, and it’s best to build it up gradually.

Owner: Got it.

Mark: I recommend spraying one direction, then walking back the other way to catch any missed spots — a bit like driving the same road twice.

Owner: Makes sense — you always see things differently the second time around.

Mark: Exactly! And for those hard-to-reach areas, we can use this lance attachment — perfect for getting inside chassis rails, door panels, and other hidden spots.

[Cut to Final Thoughts]
Mark: So, what’s the future for this Volvo?

Owner: I want to keep it going as long as possible — the previous owner looked after it so well, so I feel like I’m just its caretaker now. My son's turning 17 soon, so maybe it’ll be his first car. He’s already driven it around the field and loved it.

Mark: That’s fantastic — what a special first car that would be!

Owner: Yeah, I just want to keep it original and enjoy it for as long as I can.

Mark: Sounds like a great plan. Well, thanks so much for bringing in this brilliant example of a Volvo 245. It’s a true driveway icon!

[Closing Shot]
Mark: If you’ve got a classic or unique car that you think deserves the spotlight, get in touch — we’d love to share your story. Thanks for watching!
